About This Wine:
Layer Cake's Jason Woodbridge decided to take his winemaking team from Hundred Acre and go make wine in some of the greatest places on earth. “Layer Cake is sort of the people’s passport to my favorite wine regions of the word,” says Woodbridge, referring to his Layer Cake Malbec from Argentina, Primitivo (Zinfandel) from Italy’s Puglia, Shiraz from South Australia, Syrah from Cotes du Rhone, and Napa Valley Cabernet. His mission was simply to shock people about how good wine could be at about $15 a bottle.

Layer Cake Shiraz (1 bottle)
The wine is opaque and purple-colored with a nose of jammy black cherry and blackberry fruit, truffles, tar, and spice. Warm and rich in the mouth; the ripe fruit is well supported by the depth of the structure.
Generous aromas of ripe Bing cherries, blackberry, candied violets, cedar, and tobacco, plus hints of minerals and graphite. Sweet, densely packed and creamy in the mouth, but with firm, underlying structure that gives lift to the dark berry, chocolate, and coffee flavors. This is a very lush, soft, complex wine that coats the palate and spreads out on the long, lingering finish.
Layer Cake Virgin Chardonnay (1 bottle)
The nose is like walking through a blossoming Meyer lemon orchard, a spring stream running over wet cobblestones in the background, and a hint of lemon meringue pie baking inside the cottage nearby. Fresh and vibrant, the wine builds in body and texture as it sits in your mouth. Kaffir lime, guava, pineapple and a note of flint flow in first, then the light creamy texture of lemon curd fills in the flavor palette. The finish is clean and crisp, lingering enough to make you want another sip.
Layer Cake Malbec (1 bottle)
Dense, purple core with a brilliant red rim. Black fruit is abundant in the nose followed closely by anise, chocolate and very pleasant touches of spice. Soft, lush and fragrant, Layer Cake Malbec is an intense mouthful of fruit-driven wine, finishing with very soft tannins. Delicious!
Layer Cake Pinot Noir (1 bottle)
Highly aromatic and a rich and classic California Pinot Noir. It is loaded with bright red fruits, hints of spice and layers of dark berries, ripe plums and big juicy black cherries wrapped in a glycerol creamy mouthfeel. A touch of smoky earth lingers in the background with the faintest wisp of delicate tobacco.
