The 2009 Arnold Palmer Chardonnay Santa Barbara County has a nose that is intense and zesty, with rich mineral, quince and grapefruit notes. On the palate, the flavors are a lively mix of ripe pear, apple, citrus and honeydew. Mouthwatering acidity brings a refreshing finish.
Our 2009 Chardonnay is composed of 100% Chardonnay grapes from coastal vineyards in Santa Barbara County. These grapes have the vibrant citrus flavors for which this region is so famous.
The chardonnay grapes were whole-cluster pressed into stainless steel tanks. After settling overnight, the juice was inoculated with yeast the next morning. Eighty percent was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, and the other twenty percent was fermented in stainless steel tanks. The lees were stirred every two weeks, to encourage malolactic fermentation and develop the wine’s texture.
